by Carol Stillian, Chair - Island County Children's Commission
The Island County Board of Health is currently seeking citizens, like you, to serve on the Island County Children’s Commission. Members of this Ordinance-based Commission are appointed by the Island County Board of Health to assess and identify needs of infants, young children and youth county-wide, and to advocate and work collaboratively to address priority concerns. The Children’s Commission is advisory to the Board of Health and reports regularly, to decision makers and to the community, on the state of Island County’s children and youth, such that appropriate decisions can be made on their behalf.
The Children’s Commission is comprised of professional and lay volunteers with a variety of experience and/or interest in the well being of our young citizens, and a keen desire to help others. This is a working Board, with full Commission meetings monthly and issue-specific sub-committee meetings as needed. The Children’s Commission receives quality staff support from the Island County Health Department.
If you are interested in serving your community as a member of the Island County Children’s Commission, please call or contact Dan N. Bond, MSW, at 360-678-7884, P.O. Box 5000, Coupeville, WA 98239. Immediate openings are available. Your special contributions are needed. Questions? (360) 320-9936
