Stanwood Camano Genealogy Meeting

Monday, March 2, 1:00 pm.  Stanwood Camano Genealogy Meeting.   Our next meeting will be this Monday at 1:00 at the museum.  I would like to talk about what we learned at the Archives.  And I still want to show you a Genealogy Library so I'm thinking of a trip to the Stillaguamish Valley Genealogy Society Library in Arlington in the near future.  Bill Blanding, blandin@pobox.com.

PS.  Bill copied me in on a thank you note from an old friend, Mary Jo Fritz.  “For those of you who may not know my husband passed away late last summer and I have moved into assisted living in Renton, where I am 10 minutes away from two of our girls. I hope to spend quality time at the beach this summer, but that remains to be seen.  You can remove me from your informative list as I am out of business as far as Genealogy is concerned. However, it gives me great pleasure when our high school grandkids come up and dig into my information for an assignment….and I can be of help.”  Some folks just don’t know how to stop giving.

Today! Stanwood Camano Genealogy

We will be meeting this Monday at 1:00 in the Museum.  We will have a guest speaker at the meeting.  Rob Branigin, from the Stanwood Library, will be talking to us about his idea of opening up the meeting room at the library on some Saturdays to allow genealogy types to search ancesry.com.  He would bring in extra computers ( I'm thinking tenish) and be available to help in your searching.  He thinks his talk will last about 15 minutes, but I'm sure with your questions it will be longer.  Perk, Judy and probably a few others went to his class on ancestry last Saturday and gave me lots of good feedback.  Thanks to Perk and  Judy (and probably Karen P. and Roy) for getting me in touch with Rob.

And I went to the Archives and the Seattle Gen. Soc. Tuesday in preparation for the Sr. Center trip on the 10th to find out what they have changed since I was there last.  I will let you know what I found in addition to lots of City Directories.  In the meantime you might want to look at what is available at their websites at www.rootsweb.com/~waseags/ (Seattle Gen. Soc.) or www.archives.gov/pacific-alaska/seattle ( National Archives, Seattle branch).  They both have indexes to their holdings on their web sites.  Bill Blandin
